Frances G. DeFeo, a resident of Middletown, died on Friday, November 2, 2012 at Middletown Park Rehabilitation and Health Care Center. She was 86.
She was the daughter of Walter and Julia Slesinski. She graduated from Rider College. Trenton, New Jersey in 1948 and was a Legal Stenographer working in the office of the Orange County District Attorney at the Orange County Government Center in Goshen until her retirement. She continued working one day a week thereafter for the Board of Ethics until several months before her passing.
Fran was an avid collector of Teddy Bears, antiques and collectibles; a great knitter, whose projects won monetary and honorable recognition awards for their beauty and workmanship; and an excellent cook, also winning contests for best tasting recipes.
She is survived by her sisters, Dorothy Strong and Gladys Loyas and nieces and nephews, Lori and Robert Strong, Therese, Brigid, David and Joseph Loyas and their families, and her cat, Penny.
Fran was predeceased by her husband, Richard in 2011.
There will visitation from 9 to 10:30 am on Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2012 at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc., 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown, NY 10940. A Graveside service will be held at 11 am at Orange County Veterans Cemetery, 111 Craigville Road, Goshen, NY 10924.
