Frances Ella Steenrod of Middletown, New York entered into eternal rest on December 5th, 2022. She was 98 years old.
Frances was born on May 10th, 1924, in Reedburn, New York to Kenneth Charles and Lena Thomas Charles.
She graduated from Hancock High School in Hancock, New York at the age of sixteen, where she had become fluent in French, a skill which served her and her husband well in their extensive travels through Canada and Europe.
The two also traveled to Alaska, Hawaii, and Australia in the course of their 75 years of marriage. Frances and James
“Ed” Steenrod married on November 15th, 1942 at the East Branch, New York Methodist Church,
after which James immediately departed to serve in the Army in World War II.
They were both devoted members of St. Paul’s Methodist Church of Middletown, New York.
Frances is survived by her son Edwin Steenrod, his wife Kathleen and daughter Sarah of
Middletown, New York, her daughter Sandra Gitlin of Miami, Florida, and her brother Donald
Charles and his wife Mary of East Branch, New York, as well as many nieces, nephews and
cousins. She was predeceased by her husband, James Steenrod, and seven of her eight siblings.
Visitation, funeral services and burial will be private.
