Obituary for Flora Varshavchik
Flora Varshavchik, a resident of the area since 1996, died following a short illness on Monday, December 16, 2019 at Orange Regional Medical Center. She was 86.
The daughter of the late Gotlib Litmanovich and Maria Zhigalina, she was born on December 8, 1933 in Ukraine. She married Leonid Varshavchik and they shared many years together before his death in 2001. Flora worked as an engineer for the HEMZ corporation in Ukraine until her retirement. After moving to the United States, Flora became a naturalized citizen. She loved her family very much, and loved to feed everyone. She cooked her Ukrainian recipes for her family and her Napoleon cake was her specialty. Flora also loved to read.
She is survived by her daughters, Natalya Dreger and her husband Nikolay of Middletown and Marina Voytko and her husband Pavel of Bloomingburg; her beloved grandchildren, Tatyana Dreger of Brooklyn, Igor Voytko and his wife Maggie of Charlotte, NC, and Michael Voytko of Bloomingburg and her great-granddaughter, Katelin Dreger of Brooklyn.
In addition to her parents and husband Flora was predeceased by her brother, Rem Sinelnikov.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 pm on Wednesday, December 18, 2019 at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc, 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown, NY 10940. Burial will take place in Wallkill Cemetery in Middletown.
