Fernando Castano October 19, 1944-March 16, 2010Middletown, NYFernando Castano of Middletown NY, died on Tuesday March 17 at O.R.M.C. Horton Campus Middletown, NY. He was 65. Fernando was born on October 19, 1944 in Santa Rosa de Cabal, Columbia to the late Humberto and Graciela Garcia Castano. He moved to the Middletown area 42 years ago and worked as the superintendent for Crestwood Apartments until his recent retirement. He was a member of St. Joseph's Church in Middletown. Fernando will be remembered by his family for his great sense of humor. He was always helping people, putting others first. He was proud of his Columbian heritage and enjoyed watching Columbian television, loved coffee and was a huge Starbucks fan. His family was his life; he was a great husband, father and grandfather. Fernando always found time for his family, he especially loved going on family vacations.He is survived by his loving wife, Luz Maria Castano at home; son, Jose F. and Maria of Middletown; daughter Stephanie and her fiance David Hernandez of South Orange, NJ; five brothers, Gilberto and his wife Nora, Charles and his wife Vivana, Humberto and his wife, German and Ruben and his wife Luisa; and three sisters, Floralba Marin, Nohemy and Isabel; and one beloved grandchild, and many nieces and nephews. Visitation hours are form 6 to 8 pm on Saturday, March 20, 2010 and 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm on Sunday, March 21, 2010 at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc., 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown, NY 10940. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, March 21, 2010 at St. Joseph's R.C. Church, 149 Cottage Street, Middletown, NY 10940. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery.
