EVERETT "ACE" LOUIS JONES
April 1, 1938 - April 2, 2017
Middletown, NY
Everett "Ace" Jones died with his loving family at his side on April 2, 2017 at Orange Regional Medical Center in Middletown, just one day after his 78th birthday.
The son of the late Leroy and Svea Dalquist Jones, he was born on April 1, 1938 in Middletown, NY. He was a 1955 graduate of MHS. He proudly served in the United States Airforce from 1955-1959, where he worked as airplane mechanic.
He married Marilyn Horton on April 27, 1969 in Newburgh and they shared 47 years of marriage before her death on October 28, 2016. He worked as a trucker for Red Star Express in Newburgh until his retirement and was a member of Teamsters Local 445. He was an active lifetime member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, where he was a choir member, served as a Trustee and in many other capacities.
Ace was a member of the Middletown Elks Club 1097 and the Eagle Engine Company No. 2 in Middletown since 1967. He was an energetic supporter and organizer who always offered his help to the American Boy Scouts and to the American Veterans. He was instrumental in creating the Town of Wallkill Veterans Memorial Park. In addition to all his other involvements, Ace was an avid bowler. He was a big man with an even bigger heart who gave of himself whenever and wherever he could. He will be dearly missed by his family, friends and community.
He is survived his loving daughter, Kim Tremper and her husband, Phillip and one cherished granddaughter, Amelia. He is also survived by his daughters, Julene DeLeeuw and her husband, Kenneth and her children, Morgan and Shaye and Rayna Doucette and her children, Dane and Cole as well as one great-grandson and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and beloved wife, Marilyn, he was predeceased by his brothers, Robert and Karl.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, April 5, 2017 at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc., 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown, NY 10940. A Funeral Service will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, April 6, 2017 at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, 58 West Main Street, Middletown, NY 10940.
Memorial contributions in Ace's name may be made to his church, St. Paul's Methodist Church, 58 West Main Street, Middletown, NY 10940.
