Obituary for Everett Hogan
Everett “Papa Buddy” Hogan
November 20, 1926-June 21, 2014
Middletown, NY
Everett Hogan, a longtime Middletown resident, died on Saturday, June 21, 2014 at home in the company of his loving and devoted family. He was 87 years old.
The son of the late Daniel and Gertrude Colby Hogan, he was born in the Bronx on November 20, 1926. He proudly served in the US Army during World War II in Japan and on October 13, 1951 he married his beloved wife Eileen in St. Raymond’s Church in the Bronx and they shared 60 years together before her death in 2011.
Everett was a dedicated husband, father and grandparent who was a loyal fan of the NY Giants and the NY Yankees, but considered his family his very favorite and cherished “team.”
He always referred to his daughters as his “dollies” and greeted their spouses and friends with his familiar “How ya doin, kid?”
The great grandchildren affectionately called him “Papa Buddy” and he stocked his fridge with their favorite chocolates. Sean will always have great memories of Fantasy Football with his grandfather and all of us will ask for a Buddy Sliver when requesting a piece of cake.
We are grateful for all of the memories of him that we treasure and want to extend our appreciation to our beloved Dr. Ferguson and Hospice for the care and love they gave Everett.
Everett is survived by his loving family; his three daughters; Patricia Donovan of Greenwood Lake, Carol Hunter and her husband John of Middletown, Donna Collins and her husband John of Greenwood Lake and nine grandchildren: Sean and his wife Brande, Timothy and his wife Megan, Brian, Kevin, John, Shannon and Sarah, Matthew and Amber, Christopher and Alysha, Christine and Christopher and seven great grandchildren: Eric, Kiley, Tyler, Alexander, Liam, Lily and Layla. He is further survived by two sisters, Joan Tedesco and Carol Hogan, both of CT.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 24th from 2-4 and 7-9 at the Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown, NY.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday morning June 25th at 11:00 a.m.at St Joesph’s R.C Church, 149 Cottage Street, Middletown with Pastor Dennis Nikolic.
