Evelyn J. Day, a lifetime Middletown resident, died Thursday, September 28, 2006 at Elant at Goshen in Goshen, NY. She was 81 years old.
The daughter of the late Harold and Gladys Conoran Johnson, Evelyn was born August 8, 1925 in Cadosia, NY. She married her beloved husband, Herbert on August 17, 1945 at the Mount Carmel Priory in Middletown.
Evelyn worked as a medical secretery and office manager for both Dr. Louis Gillman and Dr. Michaelides on Highland Avenue in Middletown for many years. She was a communicant of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church as well as a member of the Catholic Daughters of America.
Evelyn is survived by her husband of 61 years; four loving children Carl Day and his wife, Mary, of Prescott, AZ, Bruce Day and his wife, Della, of Cuyahoga Falls, OH, Gary Day and his wife, Lynann of Middletown, Diane Busse and her husband, Donald, of Ballston Spa, NY; nine grandchildren Kimberly Marino of Middletown, Stacy Giannette of Washingtonville, Pamela Day of Washington D.C., David Day of Brooklyn, Christopher Day of Clemson, SC, Kevin, Laura, and Brian Day all of Cuyahoga Falls, OH, Lauren Busse of Ballston Spa, NY; stepgranddaughter Samantha Adams of San Diego, CA; three greatgrandchildren Alyssa and Alexis Marino, Ella Giannetto; three step greatgrandchildren Brandi Bissett, Jaden and Shelby Adams; one aunt Helen Mathe; as well as several cousins, nieces, and nephews.  Â
 Evelyn was predeceased by her son, Thomas R. Day and her sister, Marion Jones.
Family and friends are invited on Sunday, October 1 from 2 to 5 pm at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc. 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown, NY 10940. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, October 2, at 10 am at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 90 Euclid Avenue, Middletown. Burial will follow in the family plot in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Cottage Street in Middletown.
