Evelyn Aileen Godfrey, former secretary for the Mortgage Dept at Orange County Trust Co, died on Friday, December 20, 2013 at Orange Regional Medical Center in Middletown. She was 78.
The daughter of the late Eleanor May Wood and Frederick Harmon Godfrey, she was born on October 28, 1935 in Middletown, NY. Evelyn was one of Jehovah’s Witnesses and attended the Kingdom Hall in Middletown. She enjoyed being part of her congregation and going to meetings. She had a kind, gentle demeanor and was an animal lover. Evelyn’s favorite season was fall, the colors and changing leaves. She enjoyed crocheting and Wii bowling.
Evelyn is survived by her children; Debra Mikulski and her husband Steven of Greenville, Janet Jewis of Port Jervis, Brenda Stroud of Schenectady, Jeffrey Jewis of PA, Lisa Godfrey-Gray of Port Jervis and Lori Brown of Montgomery; sisters, Eleanor Meyer and her husband Bill of Albany, Virginia Rembisz of Fishkill, and her grandchildren: Sally, Michael, Stacey, Jessica, Matthew, Mark, Sylvia, Alger, Caasi, Isaac, Jasmine, Kevin and Jenni; and many great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by one sister, Vivian Myker, two grandchildren, Steven and Marcy, and two great grandchildren, Jacqueline and Dylan.
Visitation hours will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm on Friday, December 27, 2013 at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc, 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown, NY 10940. A Funeral Service will be held at 8 pm on Friday at the funeral home. Cremation will be private.
