Middletown, NY

Eugene McGill, a longtime resident of Middletown, died on Sunday February 14 at O.R.M.C. Horton Campus Middletown, NY. He was 65.

Eugene was born on May 31, 1944 in Richmond, VA. He attended Richmond Public Schools and served in the US Army for two years during the Vietnam Conflict. After his return from the military in 1969, he began working for Reynolds Aluminum. During his career with Reynolds Aluminum, he relocated to Middletown, was transferred to Salisbury, NC, Houston, TX and then back to Middletown; the company later changed the name to the Ball Corporation. Gene retired after 40 years with the company on June 30, 2009.

Gene was a proud Mason and Past Master of Middletown Hoffman Lodge. He was a generous and thoughtful man who touched many lives.

Gene's memory will be forever cherished by his wife, Joyce Ann McGill, his son, James "Junnie" McGill and his wife Burnetta, his special godson, Herbert "Kit" Dowdy, Jr.; his mother, Geneva Gregory; one sister, Eva McGill Taylor; three borthers, Daniel McGill, Jr., James Gregory and his wife Marsha; Algae McGill and his wife Lisa and a special brother in Christ, Larry Kearney. He is also survived by his aunt, Earlene Felder; three sister-in-laws, Fannie Pendleton, Isabelle Gregory, and Zenobia Gregory; one brother-in-law, Andrew Pendleton, a host of nieces and nephews, cousins and two step-grandchildren. Gene held a special

devotion to his nieces Marcelia and Rashunda Gregory and Denise Jones

and her husband Lester for their continuing visits during his illness.

He was predeceased by four brothers, William, Algie, Donald, and Aaron.

Visitation hours are from 6:30 to 8:30 pm on Friday, February 19, 2010 and from 2 to 4 pm on Saturday, February 20, 2010 at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc., 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown, NY. A Masonic Funeral Service will be held at 3 pm on Saturday at the funeral home followed by a Fuenral Service of Remembrance at 3:15, Deacon Richard Tripani will officiate. The family extends an invitiation to join them for a Reception at 5 pm at the Hoffman Lodge at the corner of North and Cortland Street on Saturday. Cremation will be private, at the convenience of the family.

Memorial contributions in Gene's name may be made to Middletown Hoffman Lodge.
