ï‚· Our dear mother Esther Huertas, passed away on Wednesday, October 26 th ,
2022 at the age of 78 at Valley View Nursing Home where she resided for
the past 5 1/2 years
Second:
ï‚· Esther was born on August 14 th , 1944 in Puerto Rico to Maria Rivera and
James Tarquinio. She was a wonderful wife and mother who was always
there when we needed her. Her kind soul was one of her characteristics
that stood out the most. She was always willing to help someone in their
time of need whether it be with a listening ear, gentle words of support and
encouragement, or a simple but much needed hug. Her hugs were magical,
and her kisses could make any boo-boo feel better. She devoted the
entirety of her life to her husband Jose and children Jeffrey, Josie, Jerry,
and Jenny. Esther decided to start a career as a medical secretary after her
last child Jenny was old enough to start school. She was now a working
mother who juggled a career, motherhood, and being a wife. She faced and
overcame life’s adversities with grace and style. Upon retirement, Esther
and Jose moved to Pennsylvania. She enjoyed her time there caring for her
husband and her beloved dogs. Sadly, however she lost her husband of 53
years when he passed away on August 1 st , 2015. Shortly after, she was
diagnosed with Dementia where she lived out the rest of her days being
cared for at the Valley View Nursing Home. She was preceded in death by
her husband Jose, her son Jeffrey, and both her parents Maria and James.
She is survived by her children Josie, Jerry, and Jenny, her two sisters
JoAnn, and Lori, her brother Manny, her nieces, and nephews, her
grandchildren, great grandchildren, and many lifelong friends. Family and
friends are invited to say a final goodbye to Esther on Wednesday
November 2nd, 2022. Viewing is from 9am to 10:30am at Applebee-
McPhillips Funeral Home 130 Highland Avenue Middletown, NY. Funeral
will be held at 11am at St. Joseph Church 149 Cottage St., Middletown, NY.
Burial service at 12 noon Hillside Cemetery 59 Mulberry St., Middletown,
NY. Lunch will be served at her daughter Jenny’s house at 1:30pm
