Obituary for Ernest "Batman" Crider
Ernest “Batman” Crider, a lifelong resident of Orange County, died after a long illness at Achieve Nursing Facility in Liberty on Saturday, March 24. He was 60 years old.
The son of Dorothy DePolito and Buen E. Crider, He was born in St. Louis, Missouri on December 14, 1957.
Ernie, though an only child, had many cousins who were as close as siblings to him. He loved family and was able to battle his many health issues with courage and unfailing faith in The Lord. He had a quick smile and a sense of humor that charmed everyone who came into his life.He loved helping others, many times in his work environment,where he cared for the elderly and disabled with kindness and compassion. He was an avid Giants fan, and earned the nickname “Batman” for sporting the costume of the famous Superhero to the games.
He enjoyed listening to Classic Rock and Roll music, and watching wrestling and movies.
He is survived by his daughters; Doti Walton (Dusty) in Santa Fe, Texas, Cherry Lynn of Slate Hill and his long-time friend, Rose Lamb of Slate Hill. He is also survived by step-daughter, Alyssa Moore, as wel as six grandchildren;Trace and fiance, Brayden, Dylan, Madison, Bayly, Ryley, Renee and two great-grandchildren;Jaxon and Waylon.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to David Mann for his weekly treks up for caring for Ernie’s personal hygiene as well as two caregivers at Achieve, Jennifer and Tonya.
A memorial service will be held at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown, New York on Holy Thursday, March 29 at 11 a.m. Reverend DeGroat will officiate.
