Emily “Milly” Amitrano Love
New Hampton, New York
Emily “Milly” Amitrano Love, a lifelong resident of Middletown and New Hampton,
died peacefully at Garnet Medical Center on Monday, February 4, 2024 with
family and friends by her side. She was 94 years old.
The daughter of Firminio and Rosaria Fotino Amitrano, she was born June 25,
1929 and was one of four children. She was the wife of Lee Love.
Emily went to work at Woolworth’s on North Street in Middletown at a young age
and worked her way up from store clerk to store manager and area supervisor
before retiring after 40 years. After retirement, Emily and her husband, Lee,
owned and operated Love Lee Jewelry in Middletown.
Emily was a lifelong parishioner at Saint Joseph’s Catholic Church in Middletown.
In her later years, she gave her time to visiting the Blessed Sacrament Chapel at
her church. She and her sister, Lena, were faithful communicants at daily Mass.
She was a very nurturing woman who loved family, often being considered as a
second mother to many of her nieces and nephews.
Emily is survived by her sister, Lena Schoonmaker, her sister-in-law, Stella
Amitrano and many nieces and nephews who grieve her loss. She was
predeceased by her parents, her husband, Lee Love, her sister, Mary Kerker and
her brother, Dominick Amitrano.
The family would like to thank Fr. Paul DeNault for his kindness and caring in
visiting Emily during her illness and dear family friend Fran Amelio for her
constant support and friendship.
Visitation will be held on February 14, 2024 from 2-4 pm. and 6-8 pm. at the
Applebee–McPhilllips Funeral Home at 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown N.Y. A
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in
Middletown, N.Y. on February 15, 2024 at 11:00 am with Rev. Paul DeNault
O.Carm officiating. Burial will take place in the family plot in St. Joseph’s
Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph’s Church.
