Emily Louise Galu passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 6, 2023 surrounded by her loving family.
Emily was born on January 23, 1944 in Macon, Georgia and raised in Port Jervis, New York by her parents Charles and Mary Love. She was married to John D. Galu and they resided in Mount Hope, New York.
Emily worked in food service for many years as a server, cocktail waitress and bartender and loved to talk with her patrons and have fun with her coworkers. She also enjoyed volunteering for Meals on Wheels, teaching religious education at Holy Name Catholic Church in Otisville, New York and was a longtime treasurer for the Minisink Valley High School Band. Her favorite hobby was making ceramics, which she generously shared with everyone she knew, and her favorite pastime was laughing with family and friends.
Emily is survived by her husband John; son Michael and wife Cherie; grandson's Ryan, and wife Mikaela, and Morgan, and fiancé Emily; sister Jessi Wolf and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
She is predeceased by parents Charles and Mary, her favorite aunt, Gertrude Bradshaw, and numerous other relatives.
A memorial Mass is planned for 10:00am on Saturday, October 7, 2023 at Holy Name of Jesus Church in Otisville, New York. In lieu of flowers, please consider a contribution to the Arthritis Foundation, The American Lung Association or your favorite charitable organization.
