Elvira Mastria
Elvira Mastria, a beloved mom and grandmother, died after a short illness at Westchester Medical Center with her family by her bedside.
The daughter of the late Nicola and Angiolina Pistoia Corea, she was born on February 14, 1932 in Magisano, Italy.
She married her husband, Antonio Mastria in Italy and together they emigrated to the United States in 1970.
Elvira worked for many years at Calvert Coat and made life long friends while she worked there and still kept in touch with them. When she retired, she turned to her culinary talents, making breads, pasta and sauce that everyone would remember.
Her generosity was legend. A visit to her home would ensure a dinner of baked ziti, rice balls, potato balls, sausage and peppers and anything you had a taste for.
Many people will remember her walking to different destinations around town and greeting people along her way. Her greatest joy was her family and feeding them. She was a loving lady who loved life and lived it to the fullest.
