ELSIE GILL

Elsie Gill, a longtime resident of Pearl River, died following a long illness at Middletown Park Rehabilitation Center. She was 92.
The daughter of the late John and Elsie Layne Fields, she was born on January 10, 1925 in the Bronx, NY. Elsie grew up in the Bronx, and married Leonard Gill and they shared many loving years together until his death in 2005. Leonard was a member of the Elks, and together they traveled many places with the Elks. They enjoyed cruises and trips to the Jersey Shore. Elsie moved to Pearl River in 1958, where she was a member of the Pearl River Senior Club. When she moved to the Middletown area in 2014 to be closer to her children, she volunteered at the Carmelite Development Office in Middletown. She loved her entire family dearly, but Elsie was especially delighted with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her two daughters, Denise Palmieri and her husband, Michael and Laraine Flood and her husband, John of Leland NC and her beloved grandchildren: Michael Palmieri and his wife, Mary Ellen of Poughkeepsie, Marlene Flood of Goshen and Lisa Smith and her husband, Anthony of Wurtsboro and great-grandchildren, Catelyn and Declan, as well as many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her beloved husband, Leonard Gill, Elsie was predeceased by her cherished granddaughter, Jennifer Flood; twin sister, Rosalie; sisters, Regina Kuzma and Enid Hurtig; brother, Alfred Fields.
