Eileen Theresa Basilio, a longtime area resident, died on Tuesday, January 31, 2017 in Wayne, NJ. She was 78.
The daughter of Patrick O’Grady and Ellen Theresa Cleary O’Grady, Irish immigrants, she was born on December 13, 1938 in the Bronx. Eileen loved her seven children wholeheartedly. She worked as a registered nurse and an addiction counselor at Middletown Psychiatric Center and the Richard C. Ward Treatment Center, as well as other facilities for over 20 years.
Eileen was particularly known for her kindness and compassion. She was always grateful and generous. She found the good in everyone and appreciated the smallest gesture. She had peace about her future with Christ.
Eileen is survived by her seven children, Chris Koczka, Kevin Koczka, Mary Zenker and her husband Michael, Maureen Koczka, Carolyn DeCastro and her husband Manuel, Patrick Koczka, and John Basilio and his wife Vicki. She is also survived by her brother Thomas O'Grady and wife Barbara, sister-in-law Agnes Koczka, and her 16 grandchildren, Cecelia, Quincy, Emily and her husband Solomon, Noah and his wife Abigail, Anna, Evan, Laura, Rebecca, Charlotte, Michael, Michaela, Courtney, Mariah and her husband Joseph, Chelsea and her husband Jonathan, Ryan, Ella and 4 great-grandsons.
Cremation will be private.
Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm on Friday, February 3, 2017 at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc., 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown, NY 10940. A Celebration of Life will be held at 7 pm on Friday evening.
