Eida M. Horrego
March 11, 1933 to March 29, 2023
Resided in Middletown, NY
Our family is sad to share the news that our beloved mother and grandmother, Eida M. Horrego, lovingly known to many as Nana, entered into rest on Wednesday, March 29th, 2023 in Goshen, NY. She passed shortly after celebrating her 90th birthday.
The daughter of Jorge Marrero and Leocadia Rodriguez, Eida was born in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico on March 11, 1933 and spent her childhood years there until moving to Manhattan, NY to pursue her dreams. Eida married Leopoldo Horrego and they had four sons who they raised in Middletown, NY. When Eida’s husband was diagnosed with polycystic kidney disease, she became his dialysis technician so that he could receive his treatments in the comfort of their home.
Eida was a strong, thoughtful, and kind-hearted wife and mother. She retired from the Middletown school district where she dedicated 26 years as a homeschool liaison for pre-k programs. She had a passion for singing and joined the Church Choir so she could share her beautiful voice with others.
Eida is survived by her two sons, Vladimir Horrego and his wife Maureen of Goshen, NY, Marcus Horrego and his wife Ann of Hamptonburgh, NY; eight grandchildren, Rebekah, Rimsky Jr., Thomas, Emily, Leopold, Daniel, Marcus Jr., and Maximilian; five great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Eida was predeceased by her husband, Leopoldo; her two sons, Leopold and Rimsky and her granddaughter, Morgan Nicole.
