Obituary for Edythe O'Brien
Edythe Crane O’Brien, an area resident for 89 years, passed away in God's providence on April 30, 2006 at St. Margaret Hall in Cincinnati, Ohio. She was 90 years of age.

The youngest daughter of Edwin A. and Fannie Hulseapple Crane, she was born May 29, 1915 in Highview, New York.

Edythe graduated from Northfield-Mt. Hermon School in Northfield, Massachusetts. She worked for several years at the Metropolitan Insurance Company in Middletown and did volunteer work for many years at St. Joseph’s School, the Red Cross, and Girl Scouts. Edy had been honored with a lifetime membership in St. Joseph’s School’s PTA and was an avid Yankees’ fan

Edythe is survived by her daughter, Sr. Jane O’Brien, ANG, of Cincinnati, OH, and a granddaughter and her husband, Tara and Michael Holbert of New York City. Additionally she is survived by four nephews and a niece, twenty-one great- and great-grand nieces and nephews, as well as many friends and neighbors, all of whom cherished her warmth and faithfulness.

Edy was the widow of Daniel H. O’Brien, whom she married in 1942 and with whom she spent fifty-two joyful years. She is also predeceased by her beloved daughter, Barbara Ann McMahon.

Visitation will be on Thursday, May 4, 2006 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown.

A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 11 am on Friday, May 5 at St. Joseph’s Church, 149 Cottage Street, Middletown. Burial will be in the family plot in St. John’s Cemetery, Goshen, NY.
