Edward Machnicki, a retired heavy equipment operator for the Operating Engineers Local 825, Springfield, NJ, died Saturday January 14, 2006 at his home. He was 78 years old.
One of four children born to the late Stanley and Mary Wronska Machnicki, Edward was born on September 1, 1927 in Chester.
Ed was a member of the Town of Wallkill Mid-Orange Lions Club, the Local Chapter of AARP, the NRA, the Mountaineers Hunting Club, the Mt Hope Seniors, he was Past Chief of Mechanicstown Fire Co, a member of the Middletown Elks Lodge 1097 and a longtime member of the County Seat Conservation Club. An avid sportsman, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating and camping. He was a Harvest Moon Dancer and loved his Polish music. He also loved a good giggle on Sunday mornings with the Sunday Comics, his favorite was the Lockhorns.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 12 years, Edna Howard Machnicki at home; two sons, Edward Machnicki, Jr. of Middletown and William Manaco and his wife Gabrielle of Germany; one
daughter, Carol Allen and her husband, Shawn of Westminster, CO; two brothers-in-law, John Smith of Goshen and John Szulwach of New Jersey; one sister-in-law, Betty Machnicki of Durlandville, NY as well as several nieces and nephews.
Edward was predeceased by one sister, Helen Szulwach and two brothers, Walter and Henry Machnicki.
Family and friends are invited to call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm on Friday, Jan.20th at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc. 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown. Elks services will be held at 7:30pm followed by Lions services at 7:45pm.
A Funeral Service of Remembrance will be celebrated on Saturday, Jan.21st at 2pm at the funeral home.
Burial take place in early Spring in the family plot in Pine Hill Cemetery.
Despite his illnesses, Ed always had a special concern for others. We know he would want donations in his name to be given to the David Curtis Heart and Lung Transplant Fund for this very special, young man.
