Edward William Farley, a Machinist Foreman for Starr Expansion, died after a long illness at his family home in Westtown, NY on March 6, 2014. He was 89.

Edward was born on October 7, 1924 in Lynn, MA. He proudly served in the US Army during World War II. Edward married Jane Louise Ruther and they shared 50 years together until her death 15 years ago. He was a longtime resident of New Windsor, NY where he was a member and a 32nd degree Master Mason in the Newburgh Masonic Lodge and an advisor for the Boys Scouts of America. After he moved to the state of Florida in 1988, he was a member of the the American Legion, the Elks Club, the Moose Lodge, and the VFW.

Known as “Ed the Hat” to everyone for his love of hats, he had a dynamic personality and “did it all”. He even rafted down the Colorado River. He was very proud of his Irish heritage and always stuck up for his kids. He was definate, dependable and had a great sense of humor. He was also an adventuresome golfer.

He is survived by his children; Theodore E. Farley and his wife Karen of Pine Bush and Martha Hall and her husband Bruce E. of Westtown; and four beloved grandchildren, Shaun, Jessica, Kathleen, and Matthew and two great-grandchildren, Cody and Sarah.

A Memorial Service will be held at 1 pm on Saturday, March 22, 2014 at the Elks Lodge , 285 Wilmette Avenue, Ormond Beach, Florida, 32174.
