Edna Flood, a longtime Johnson resident, died following a long illness on November 22, 2016 at Middletown Park Rehabilitation Center. She was 91.
The daughter of the late Robert and Edith Hayes Struble, she was born on November 16, 1925 in Slate Hill, NY. Edna married Allen H. Flood and was a hard- working, loving wife, mother and grandmother. Edna was best known as a fantastic waitress who worked at many restaurants during her lifetime, as long ago as Walt’s Diner and most recently as a cashier at the Colonial Diner. She worked until the wee hours of the night, but always made room to be “mom” to her children and grandchildren. She volunteered as the classroom mother at school when her children were young. She was accepting and loving of all children, and she would do anything for them. She was active in Greenville Mountain Hose Ladies Auxiliary, Ridgebury Church and Thrift Shop and was an elder at South Centerville Presbyterian Church. She was a superb cook who was known to many as ”Sis”.
Edna is survived by her children; Stephen Flood and his wife Margo Ramsey of Conway, SC, Ralph (Fred) Flood and his wife Constance, and Wayne Flood and his wife Susan of The Villlages, FL and Merri Lou Loving and her husband William (Fred) of Johnson, NY. She is also survived by 22 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and several great-great grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband, Allen, son, Barry Flood, brothers, Clarence (Bill) Struble and Lawrence (Larry ) Struble.
Visitation will be from 11 am to 1 pm on Saturday, November 26, 2016 at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc. A Funeral Service will be held at 1 pm at the funeral home, Rev.
