Obituary for Edna Gertrude Cowan

Edna Gertrude Cowan of Middletown, died on Tuesday November 28 at O.R.M.C. Horton Campus in Middletown.  She was 85.

The daughter of the late  Charles and Viola Hoffman Buchan, she was born on  December 26, 1920 in Brooklyn. Edna married Kenneth H. Cowan on December 20, 1945, together they moved to the Middletown area in 1987.  Edna was a member of Our lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Middletown.

A family statement reads: “Edna was a very sentimental woman who had an enormous amount of love for her grandchildren. She was a generous and kind woman. She took pride in her position as caretaker and homemaker for her family, and provided  them with a warm and loving home. She will be sadly missed by her adoring family”.

Edna is survived by her loving husband, Kenneth, at home; her daughter Maureen Worhach and her husband Paul of Sneads Ferry , North Carolina; five beloved grandchildren, Edward and his wife Deborah; Diane and her husband Scott; Kenneth and his wife June; Mary Regina and Matthew and his wife Evangeline; and eight precious great-grandchildren, Justin, Danielle, Ryan, Gregory,Christopher, Alexa, Thomas and Abigail.

A  Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 am on Thursday, Nov. 30th at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 90 Euclid Avenue, Middletown , NY, 10940. Entombment will follow in Rose Hill Memorial Park, Putnam Valley, NY.   Entombment will follow in Rose Hill Memorial Park, Putnam Valley, NY.
