Edmund A. Sienkiewicz, died March 21, 2021 at home in Middletown, NY. Eddie was born on August 13, 1949 at Horton Hospital in Middletown, NY. He is the son of the late Edmund and Mary Sienkiewicz. He is a graduate of Middletown High School and became an iconic bartender at Players Sports Bar. Eddie was a sergeant in the 173rd airborne division (sky trooper). He was the most decorated soldier to come back from Vietnam in Orange County, NY, a recipient of Purple Heart, bronze star, CIB, and Vietnam cross of gallantry, to name a few.
Eddie was a sports fanatic. He loved football, basketball, golf, and baseball (especially the Yankees). He loved to shoot pool, play darts, cards, and bowling. He was a lifetime member of the Walter E. Hugh’s airborne chapter, American Legion, Elks Lodge, and Fraternal Order of the Eagles. He earned the title “class devil” back in high school and it stuck with him throughout his life. He loved people, and people loved him. There is not one person who couldn’t tell you a story about Eddie that wouldn’t have you burst out laughing. He loved his family deeply, most importantly “his girls”, Karen, Kelly, and Allyson. He was also proud of his grandson, Jake. He also had a cat named Precious, and I think that name says it all, as they had a special bond. JoAnn asks that you do not mourn the passing of Eddie, instead smile and remember the good times and hysterical stories, as that is what he would want. “Even though we were divorced, the most common bond and interest we had was our daughter Allyson. We spent all holidays/celebrations together as a family, making wonderful memories. We spoke on the phone everyday and the last voice he heard was mine saying: ‘Hi Eddie, time to make the donuts.’ He will truly and sadly be missed by one and all.”
Survivors include his former wife and best friend of 37 years JoAnn Sienkiewicz of Middletown NY. Followed by daughters, Allyson Elaine Sienkiewicz, Karen and husband Brian Lane of Lead, NY, Kelly Sienkiewicz of Albany N.Y., grandson Jake lane, brother Christian and wife Cathy Marie Sienkiewicz of South Carolina, sisters Kathy and husband Mike Andrikut of Las Vegas, Nevada, Terri and husband Tom Merone, Aunt Jeanne Todd of Mississippi, along with many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers Patrick and Timothy Sienkiewicz.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 24 from 2-4 pm at the Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home. A Funeral Service of Remembrance will be held on Thursday. March 25 at 11 am at the funeral home with burial with full Military Honors taking place at the Orange County Veterans Cemetery, 111 Craigville Rd. Goshen , N.Y. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Joseph Dwyer Foundation Vet to Vet. Speak to Larry at 845 342-2400 ext. 1237.
