Edith Ruth White, a long time resident of the area, died Thursday, January 12, 2023 at the Garnet Health Center. She was born June 23, 1937 and was 85 years old at the time of her death.
She was born Edith Ruth Beier to Albert and Victoria Beier in Ratibor, Germany. At 21 years old she met the handsome soldier that was to become her husband of 49 years, and followed him home to the United States. With husband Stanle White they started a family having two children, Stanley Albert White (1962-2019) and LeeAnne White Hubbard (1965 - ). She was a devoted wife and mother, eventually going to nursing school and earning her LPN degree. She soon realized she had a knack for working with Alzheimer’s patients which became a lifelong passion of hers. Her lively personality and ready smile made her a favorite of her patients and everyone she met. She made a difference in the lives of many and will be missed by all.
She is survived by her daughter LeeAnne and her husband Paul of Napanoch, NY; her brother Ernst Beier and his wife in Germany; three grandchildren: Katherine, Samuel and Rebecca White. She was predeceased by her husband, Stanle; her son Stanley White, and her brother Gerhardt Beier.
There will be no visitation, and cremation will be private and at the convenience of the family. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the National MS Society 733 Third Avenue, 3rd Floor, New York, NY 10017.
