Obituary for Edgardo G. Lopez
EDGARDO “Edge” G. LOPEZ
June 10, 1948 – February 21, 2022
Middletown, New York
Edge was peacefully taken to Heaven on Monday, February 21, 2022, while he was at the ICU in Garnet Health Medical Center, Middletown, NY.
Edge was born in Manila, Philippines on June 10th. His parents, both deceased, were Atty. Rodolfo Lopez and Lourdes G. Lopez. Helping his parents raise him was a special Aunt Estela Galvez, also deceased.
Edge is survived by his loving and devoted wife, MariaLuz “Malu” Jimenez Lopez, and their loving and devoted sons, Edde Anthony “Edde Boy” J. Lopez and Joseph Kristopher “Bulitt” J. Lopez. Edge graduated with a degree in Bachelor of Science in Commerce Major in Management in 1969 from the University of Santo Tomas in Manila, Philippines. He worked as computer programmer and then, Labor and Employee Relations Supervisor at the Philippine Long Distance Telephone Company for more than 15 years. He came to the United States in 1986 and built a career in retail/sales management and then, later, retired as a security officer. He was a fourth degree of the Knights of Columbus and, at one point, served as Treasurer of their local council. He was also a volunteer fire police. Edge served as an Usher at the National Shrine of Our Lady of Mount Carmel in Middletown, the family’s second home, where his wife, Malu and son, Edde Boy, also serve as Lectors and Eucharistic Ministers. Edge loved doing directorial work for stage productions. He enjoyed sports, particularly basketball, target shooting and pelota. He loved to take long drives with family. Most of all he loved being with Malu and the boys doing anything and everything as long as they were together.
Edge is the first son, second child, of eight children: Josie Ragasa (New Jersey, USA), Rodolfo Lopez, Jr. (deceased), Rolando Lopez (Quezon City, Philippines), Reynaldo Lopez (Quezon City, Philippines) and Ronaldo Lopez (Maryland, USA). With us prayerfully are Edge’s in-laws in the Philippines: Concepcion I. Jimenez (mother-in-law), Ma. Goretti I. Jimenez and Ma. Corazon J. Tan (sisters-in-law) and their children. He is also survived by Lovely, Lord, Lady, Lindy, cousins, cousins-in-law and more family members both here and in the Philippines.
