Dorothy M. Aversano, a 40 year resident of the area, died on July 28, 2022 at Garnet Hospital, she was 99.
Dorothy, lovingly known as Dottie by her friends and family, was born in Scranton, PA. Dottie was predeceased by her first husband, Charles Rianhard with whom she had 3 children. She was also predeceased by her second husband, Anthony Aversano. She was a member of the Wallkill Seniors and the Happy Seniors. She dedicated her life to friends, family and extended family.
She had the heart of a servant always quietly meeting the needs of others.
Dottie is survived by her daughter, Donna Leland of Ellenville, her son Bill Rianhard and his wife Mary of Mass., and her son Randy and his wife Leona of Conn. and step-sons, Joseph Aversano of Middletown, George Aversano and wife Marilyn of Slate Hill, John Aversano and wife Jean of Saddle River, NJ and Anthony Averano and wife Grace of Stamford, CT. She is also survived by
14 grandchildren, 14 great-children, 4 great-greatchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She is also survived by her sister, Betty Ruddy of Scranton, PA.
She was predeceased by her parents her brothers Steve and Joseph, and sisters, Anne, Margaret, Irene and Peggy.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 PM on Tuesday, August 2 at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home Inc. 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown, NY
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 AM on Wednesday, August 3, 2022 at St. Joseph's Church, 149 Cottage Street, Middletown, NY 10940
Entombment will be in the Queen of Peace Mausoleum at the St. Joseph's Cemetery.
Memorial contributions in her name may be made to St. Jude Children Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Way, Memphis, TN 38105.
The family wishes to thank the staff and especially Mike Cassaro at the Promenade for making her stay there as comfortable as possible.
