Middletown, NY

Dorothy Dolores Koerner passed away on Sunday, January 24, 2010 at Albert Einstein Hospital. Born April 18, 1925 in Jersey City, NJ, she was the daughter of the late Bruno and Mary Colneri Karboska. She was predeceased by her husband John Joseph Koerner, Sr. and a brother John Karboska.

Throughout her life Mrs. Koerner was a homemaker. She was a faithful and active member of St. John the Evangelist Church in Boca Raton, FL. Dorothy was the hospitality chairman of the Council of Catholic Women Founder and Director of the Young at Heart Sr. Club. She was also a member of the Helping Hands of Boca Raton Children’s Outreach and N.E.T arts and crafts group. She was instrumental in fundraising to help build a new church.

In 2006, Dorothy moved to Middletown, NY to be close to her family. She was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Middletown.

Throughout the years she had a tremendous impact on many lives, both young and old with her friendliness, goodness, kindness and generosity. She was a gourmet cook who shared her recipes with all her children. Survivors include her two daughters, Joan M. Eccleston and her husband Doug of Cromwell, CT; Judi Wolf and her husband Terry of Tappan, NY and one son John Joseph Koerner, Jr., and his wife Deborah of Montgomery; six grandchildren, Jeff, Brooke, Matthew, Marisa, John, III, Joshua, and three great grandchildren, Jessica, Jack and Meghan.

The family will receive friends during visitation hours from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm on Wednesday, January 27, 2010 at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc, 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am on Thursday, January 28, 2010 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 90 Euclid Avenue, Middletown. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery in Montgomery, NY.
