Dorothy “Dot” Ross, a lifetime Middletown resident, died on Monday July 6 at Elant At Goshen. She was 84.
The daughter of the late Lewis Clifford and Lillian Wear Elston, she was born on August 28, 1924 in Middletown.
Dot married Albert Ross on July 22, 1945 in Middletown. They were both members of North First Congregational Church. She was extremely detail oriented which complimented her talents as a nurse. She served as a Nursing Supervisor at Horton Hospital in Middletown until her retirement. Dot also loved golfing.
She is survived by her two daughters, Dorothy Ann Dammers and her husband Bill of Rutherford, NJ and Martha Dragone and her husband Frank of Middletown; grandchildren, William Dammer III and his wife Wilhemina, Jeffrey Dammer and his wife Chrissy, Jacqueline Dragone, Jessica Ippolita and her husband Pete, Jeffra Nair and her husband Santos; 7 great-grandchidlren, Brandon, Zachary, Aubrey, James, Anthony, Ashlee and Kyle. Dot was predeceased by her husband Al in 2001.
Visitation hours will be from 7 to 9 pm on Thursday, July 9, 2009 at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc., 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown, NY. A Funeral Service of Remembrance will be held at 11 am on Friday, July 10, 2009 at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the family plot in Wallkill Cemetery, Midway Road, Middletown, NY 10940.
