Doris Harrison was born the eldest of four children on July 16, 1958 in New York City. Preceding her in death were her mother, Juanita Felder, her son, Javon Walker and her father, Charles Walker.
Doris Harrison graduated from Evander Childs High School in the Bronx. She later went on to attend Bronx Community College where she earned a degree and multiple certificates in medical assistance, home health aide, phlebotomy, and Apheresis Technician. She worked at the New York blood center in which she retired in 2018.
Her children were the light and loves of her life. She was an amazing hard working single mother and grandmother to her 3 grandchildren. Not only did she always show up to every work, school or life event but she was also always involved in her children’s lives. She was our “Shero”.
She was well known in the community for her selfless acts of kindness. She would give people the clothes off her back and a place to stay if needed. She had a love for reading, self-taught piano, Bible study, meditating and dancing. She is best known for her honesty and ability to have empathy for others.
Doris is survived by her beloved children; daughter Dureka Forbes and her husband Clarence Forbes, daughter Ranita Harrison, all of Middletown; her siblings, Dennis Walker and his wife Lisa Walker, Anthony Walker, Teja Walker, Chyliese Walker and Sylvia Walker Wint. She is further survived by her grandchildren, Sa'Rai Forbes, Marcel Forbes and Sadel Forbes, aunts, uncle, several nieces and nephews as well as many cousins.
She was predeceased by one son, Javon in 1979, her mother in 1987 and her father in 2023. She is now reunited with them as well as her three grand-babies that passed before her.
