Dora M. Arsenault “Meme”, 96, passed away at home surrounded by family on April 8, 2024. Formerly of New Hampton, NY, Dora was the daughter of the late Michael and Margaret DesRoches. Dora was born in Tignish, Prince Edward Island, Canada.
She was a member of Goshen Seniors, then the Town of Wallkill Seniors until she moved to South Carolina in 2022.
Dora was “Meme” to everyone that met her, and her house was always the gathering place where no one ever left hungry. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was known to be a good sport and was always up for an adventure. She was an avid knitter, reader, and game player.
In addition to her parents, Dora was also predeceased in death by her husband, Ernest; grandson, Nicholas; brothers, Alcide and Leo.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Gail (Bill) of Myrtle Beach, SC; Judy, Paul and Donna (Leon), all of Murrells Inlet, SC and Lisa of San Diego, CA; grandchildren; Ryan (Keri), Brandon, Danny, Lauren, Tyler, Elizabeth and Sierra; great grandson, Shawn; sisters, Clarice, Phyllis, Sylvia and many nieces and nephews both in the US and Canada.
A Funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Michael Catholic Church in Garden City, SC on May 6, 2024 at 12:00pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated locally on Saturday, July 27, 2024 at 10 am at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 90 Euclid Avenue, Middletown, NY 10940. Burial of ashes will follow in the family plot in St. Joseph's Cemetery, 149 Cottage Street, Middletown, NY 10940.
