Middletown, NY

Donna Marie was born on March 12, 1947 a, the third child of John Sinclair Schmoll and Frances Johnson Schmoll at Nyack Hospital in Nyack, NY. She died on January 31, 2013 at her home in Middletown.

Donna graduated from Tappan High School in Orangeburg, NY Class of 1964. Married shortly thereafter, she gave birth to her son, Mark Andrew in 1965. After travelling to Europe and living in Germany for three years with her service-man husband, the family returned to the US and settled in Lawton, OK near Fort Sill. Her daughter Mary Ann was born at Fort Sill Keller Army Hospital in November of 1970. After graduating form the Great Plains Area Vo-Tech School of Practical Nursing; she and her children moved to Middletown. She began her career at the Letchworth Village Unit at Middletown Psychiatric Center . She continued her education while raising her children and working as an LPN. In 1980, she received an AAS degree in professional nursing from Orange County Community College and in 1991 a BA and MS in hospital management from the New School. Her jobs varied at the Psychiatric center from LPN to RN to Nurse Administrator. She was certified as an alcholholism counselor and a basic first aid and CPR instructor.

She married Victor P. Villegas on April 19, 1988. Although Victor became increasingly disabled, they were able to travel extensively throughout the United States. He predeceased her on January 18, 2010. Donna was a member of the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary, the B.P.O.E. #1097, the Orange County Democratic Women, the Gold Star Wives of America, and St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. Donna and her sisters won first place in the Saturday Nite Women’s Bowling League two years in row.

She is survived by her son, Mark Guglielmetti and his wife Denise of Lawton, Ok and her daughter, Mary Trautlein and her husband George Christopher of Middletown; her brother, John and his wife, Barbara of Walden and brother-in-law, Fred Villegas and his wife Cheryl of Middletown. Her sisters,, Fran and her husband Howard,JoAnne and her husband Larry,and Kathy, all of Sebastian, FL and her beloved grandchildren, Mark Jr, George Xavier and Josephine.

Visitation hours will be from 7 to 9 pm on Sunday, February 3, 2013 at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc, 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown, NY 10940. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 am on Monday, February 4, 2013 with Fr. Dennis Nikolic officiating ,at St. Joseph’s R.C. Church, 149 Cottage Street, Middletown, NY 10940. Burial will follow in the family plot in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
