Donna Scibetta-Cory, a resident of New Paltz, NY, entered into her final rest peacefully on February 21st, 2015. She was 58 years old. Donna was born March 5th, 1956 in Rosedale, NY.
She is survived by her mother, Marlene Scibetta, currently residing in California, and her late father, Joseph Scibetta who is survived by his wife, Antoinette of Hudson, FL. She is also survived by her husband of 35 years, Richard Cory; her daughter, Lea (Cory) Benedict and her husband, Chad, of Rochester, NY; and son, David Cory, of Middletown, NY. In addition, Donna leaves behind her two sisters: Lisa Tamer and her husband, Steven; Maria Lambert and her husband, Michael; and her two brothers: Joseph Scibetta and his wife, Cheryl; and James Scibetta, all residing in California. She is predeceased by her two brothers: Alan and Robert Scibetta. Donna was also a devoted second mother and leaves behind Beth Rodriguez and Jeanette Lockowitz.
Donna was a loving wife, mother, sister and friend. In her youth she enjoyed fencing and was always a big fan of baseball… GO YANKEES! She was a devoted baseball mom, cheering on her son’s team every chance she got.
Donna enjoyed reading autobiographies, was an avid bird watcher and loved history, trivial pursuit, and watching Jeopardy. She had a deep affection for the ocean, and her favorite vacations were yearly family trips to Long Beach Island. Donna enjoyed gardening and preparing elaborate meals for her family and friends, and she eagerly discussed her Italian heritage and shared her love of all things Italian. Sunday nights were always reserved for The Sopranos and her famous Sauce that everyone looked forward to eating. All were embraced and warmed by her hospitality over the years…. she was "the hostess with the mostest!" We will forever miss her.
A memorial will be held at 1 p.m. on March 3rd at Applebee McPhillips Funeral Home, 130 Highland Ave., Middletown, NY 10940. Donna’s wishes are for family and friends to wear colorful clothing and celebrate her life.
