Donald J. LeCastre, 87, a long time resident of Middletown, NY, went home to be with the Lord on January 24, 2015 with his loving family by his side.
Donald was born on July 5, 1927 in Brooklyn, NY and later moved to Middletown, NY. Donald was a Veteran of WWII and the Korean War. He was a member of the VFW, American Legion Post 151 in Middletown and the DAV of Goshen. Donald was the recipient of CI Badge, the UN Service Medal, the Korean Service and 2 Bronze Service Stars. In April 2013, Donald fulfilled a lifelong dream and went to the War Memorial in Washington, DC courtesy of the Honor Flight of the Hudson Valley. A family statement read, “Dad had a loving family and also blessed to have many extended families and their children who call him GRANDPA. He will be sadly missed by all”.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 59 years, Joan LeCastre. Survivors also include his daughtersMichelle LeCastre and Cathy Bradford of Middletown and his son Michael LeCastre; two grandsons, Daniel Kennedy and his wife Leanne of Westbrookville and Joseph LeCastre and his wife Ashleigh; granddaughters, Lisa Mitchell and Brittany Bradford; six great-grandchildren, Mason, Alex and Natalie Kennedy, Aiden, Ryleigh and Emmalynn LeCastre.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 pm on Thursday, January 29, 2015 at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc, 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown, NY 10940. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 am on Friday, January 30, 2015 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 90 Euclid Avenue, Middletown, NY 10940. Burial will follow at Orange County Veterans Cemetery, 111 Craigville Road, Goshen, NY 10924.
In Lieu of flowers. Memorial contributions in Donald’s name may be made to American Legion Post 151, 185 Wawayanda Avenue, Middletown, NY 10940. Arrangements are under the direction of Applebee-McPhillips Fuenral Home, Inc. www.applebee-mcphillips.com
