Obituary for Donald A Davis Jr.
Donald A. Davis, Jr., 70, of Slate Hill, NY, passed away on September, 17, 2022.
Don was born on September 11, 1952 in Nyack, NY to Donald Davis, Sr. and Elizabeth Davis. He graduated from Minisink Valley High School in 1970. He had recently celebrated his 40th wedding anniversary with his wife Judith Davis.
Don was known as “Duck” by his fellow friends and firefighters. Don was a dedicated firefighter with over 50 years of service with the Slate Hill Fire Department. Over his tenure, he was past 1st Assistant Chief and served as Engineer and Commissioner. Don could always be found at the firehouse, telling stories, mentoring, and ready to help out his community.
Don worked at the Middletown and Mid-Hudson Psychiatric Centers for over 35 years. He also worked at Shannen Park for over 15 years until retirement. Don was an active member of the community as a former Cub Scout and Boy Scout leader, past President of the Slate Hill Pacers, and Elks Club member. He was an avid bowler for years and loved watching dirt track racing. Don was an overall caring individual who loved spending time with his family and grandkids. He will be greatly missed.
In addition to his wife, Judith Davis, and sons, Brian and Steven Davis, Don is survived by his sister, Barbara Broas, niece, Dana Klima, nephew, Tom Broas, his daughter-in-laws, Bryndis and Amanda Davis, and his beloved grandkids, Khloe, Landon, Elizabeth, and Cecile. His passing is preceded by his parents, Donald Davis, Sr. and Elizabeth Davis and brother-in-law, William Broas.
A visitation will be held at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home at 130 Highland Ave, Middletown, NY 10940 on Sunday, September 25th, 2022 from 3-7pm. There will be a Funeral Service on Monday, September 26th, 2022 at 11am at Grace United Methodist Church at 684 Ridgebury Rd, Slate Hill, NY 10973. Don's family will be present to welcome loved ones.
Burial at Ridgebury Cemetery will follow.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested to send memorial donations in Don’s memory to the Slate Hill Fire Department: PO Box 3, Slate Hill, NY, 10973.
