Obituary for Domitila Galarza
Domitila Galarza, a longtime area resident died Thursday, July 27, 2006 at Park Manor Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Middletown. She was 89 years old. The daughter of the late Joackin and Juana Cedeno Galarza, Domitila was born August 4, 1916 in Guayanilla, Puerto Rico. She was a shoemaker for Jacque Levine in Middletown. A family statement reads: “Domitila was a generous woman who valued charity. She loved to give gifts and always remembered birthdays. She was great at being a mother. She loved her whole family and especially adored her grandchildren. Domitila is survived by three sons William “Bill” Lipsett of Middletown, Harry Lipsett of Brooklyn, George Lipsett of Queens; two daughters Martha Davis and her husband, Robert, of Greenville, Betty Pineiro and her husband, Louie, of Middletown; seven grandchildren Christopher, Rich, Patricia, Iris, Isabelle, Mark, and Maria;three great grandchildren, John, Lisa, and Alicia; three great great grandchildren Richard, Marquis, and John David. two brothers Ray Galarza, and Reynaldo Galarza; one sister Mary Diaz; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister and brother in law, Emerida and Jose P. Santiago.Family and friends are invited to call on Friday, July 28th (tonight) from 7 to 9 at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc. 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, July 29th at 10 am at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 90 Euclid Avenue, Middletown. Burial will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Cottage Street, Middletown.
