Dolores Tironi, age 82, passed away October 29, 2024 at home in Middletown, NY, with her family by her side. She was born December 11, 1941 the daughter of Arthur Keen and Gladys P. Leitzel.
Dolores was born at her dad's parents' home in Hickory Corners, Pa. At the age of 3, she lost her father to an illness he contracted after he was drafted into the Army. At that time, the family moved to Hebe, Pa., across the country road from her grandparents, where her mother met and married Max Wilbur Maurer. The family moved one more time to Sunbury, Pa. where Dolores would spend her summers on the Susquehanna River and her winters putting puzzles together and sewing her clothes. She graduated from Sunbury High School in 1959 and went on to attend State College in Bloomsburg, Pa. where she was Homecoming Queen and met the love of her life, Lorenzo. After graduating in 1963 with a teaching degree, she taught elementary school in Bensalem, Pa. Dolores and Lorenzo married in 1964 and started a family of their own soon after. They moved to Mt. Arlington, NJ and then built a home in Hopatcong, NJ. where she stayed home to take care of her three children. She became a travel agent after moving to Lorenzo's hometown of Rockaway, NJ. Their final move was to Middletown, NY where Dolores worked at The Medical Store until she retired in April 2023. She loved spending her free time on their boat the "Seven Angels" named for her 6 grandchildren and her beloved dog, which were the light of her life. She also served as a Eucharistic Minister and sang in the choir at Our Lady of the Assumption Church in Bloomingburg, NY.
Dolores is survived by her loving husband, Lorenzo Tironi; her daughter Michele Fortin and her husband Ken of Middletown, NY; her son Michael Tironi and his wife Debbie of Hereford, AZ; her son Mark and his wife Sherri of Middletown, NY; her brother Dennis Keen and his wife Sue of Harrisburg, Pa; her grandchildren Lindsay and Dan Carapetyan, Dan Fortin, Carissa and Alicia Tironi, Dominick and Marinna Tironi; great granddaughter Kenzly; many loving cousins, nieces, nephews and several close friends.
She was predeceased by her parents; her in-laws, Rocco and Margaret Tironi; and her brother Gary Maurer and his wife Bonita.
Dolores was a woman of timeless beauty, both inside and out. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate to know her. Look up....as the sky has another bright, shining star. Aquila RA 19h 9m 19s D 12 52 was named in Dolores' memory by some very special people. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends and everyone's life she touched, but her light remains.
