He was born in Erlau Germany on January 26, 1956. His family moved to the United States when he was three years old to the town of Slate Hill, NY.
Dieter was a man filled with passion and spirit. He loved to laugh and make jokes with those around him. He had great charisma and energy.
His friends and even strangers were drawn to his sense of humor and captivating personality. He was often the life of a party.
Dieter loved to cook and share his meals with friends and family. He loved the outdoors and was inspired by hunting and fishing. His favorite place to be was fishing on the Neversink or hunting for arrowheads in the Hudson Valley. Dieter was an animal lover especially his cats, who he loved like children, Callie and Allie.
Dieter loved and lived for his family. He is survived by his mother Aurelia Richter, sister Evelyn Bohnwagner and niece Aliza Rath. Dieter is predeceased by his father Willi K Bohnwagner, his brother Peter P Bohnwager and niece Alleah B Rath.
Dieter will be missed eternally by those who he has left behind but they are grateful to know he is with the loved ones that he has been awaiting to see again.
Visitation hours are from 7 to 9 pm on Tuesday, November 26, 2013 at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc., 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown, NY 10940. A Funeral Service will take place Tuesday evening at 8:30 pm at the funeral home, Fr. John Horan, O.Carm. will officiate. Cremation will be private.
