Obituary for Diana Haun Rojahn
Diana Esther Haun was born in Glens Falls NY.
As a child, Diana’s mother was staying with her own parents while Diana’s father was at sea with the Navy in WW II. Diana loved her family summer vacations with her grandparents in Glens Falls. She grew up in Jenkintown, PA, where there were 27 kids in her graduation class.
She studied ballet, in the footsteps of her mother who was a dancer. Diana graduated at the top of her class.
At Bucknell University, Diana studied languages and became proficient in French and Russian Languages. While at Bucknell, Diana was a member of Delta Delta Delta sorority.
She met Chris Rojahn at Bucknell and they married after graduation. Diana and Chris traveled to the western region of what was then the Soviet Union as part of a group of American scientists and spouses. Many Soviets spoke English and Diana was the only American who spoke Russian. She ended up being an ambassador for the USA in a dry desert town in the USSR. She did all the shopping- both food and all other goods for the American contingent during their extended stay and was busy as the on the spot translator when for the Americans when required. Diana had a great love for dogs and cats. She lived with her family in Palo Alto, CA until recently.
She is survived by her son, Lars, and a brother Doug, as well as many friends and extended family members.
