Obituary for Dennis George Tietze
Dennis George Tietze of Middletown, died unexpectedly on Monday, October 30, 2006 at home. He was 56.The son of George and the late Marguerite Craver Tietze, he was born December 15, 1949 in the Bronx, N.Y.Dennis served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. Prior to his service related disability, Dennis worked as a Construction Flagman for the N.Y.C. Transit Authority. Dennis moved to Middletown with his family in December of 1999.A family statement reads: "He was more than a father, he was a hero. He was the the leader of our pack. He was a Jack of all trades who had many talents, some of which were set design and wood carving. He was a clown for the kids and a champion to those who needed help. He never felt the cold in his lifetime and when we complained about the cold, he just told us to "get some blood". He was a colorful character who we will have great stories about and fond memories of forever."He is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Nancy, at home; his daughter, Ana-Marguerite Torres and her husband, Hector, of Florida; three sons: Kief Donato-Tietze and his fiancée, Dionne Martinez of Middletown, Devin Donato-Tietze and his wife, Barbara, and Derek Donato-Tietze, all of Middletown; brothers and sisters: Liz, Frances, Donna, Helen, George III, and Patricia; seven grandchildren: Yovany, Destiny, Devin, Ayden, Jonathan, Keith and Briana.Friends are invited to call at the Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, 130 Highland Ave., Middletown, N.Y. on Thursday, November 2, from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m.The funeral service will be held Friday afternoon, November 3, at 10 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial with military honors will follow in Orange County Veteran's Cemetery, Goshen, N.Y.Funeral arrangements under the direction of Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc.
