Denise Thompson, a Bullville resident for 28 years, died unexpectedly on April 9, 2018 at Orange Regional Medical Center. She was 59.
The daughter of John and Geraldine Poillon, Denise was born on October 11, 1958 in Brooklyn, NY. Because of her caring and compassionate personality, Denise was perfectly suited as a registered nurse. She worked for Goshen Medical Associates. On May 5 of 1990, she married Erik Thompson in Yulan, NY, and they relocated to the Bullville area. Denise had a great sense of humor and she united her family. She was a fantastic baker and made the best brownies and pepperoni bread. She was active as a volunteer wherever needed and was a devoted member of “Pulses” an organization that assists Children with Autism. She was selfless and loved by many. Her family and friends are stricken by her sudden loss, and she will be dearly missed.
She is survived by her husband, Erik at home; her son Erik-Jon of Lee, MA and daughter Kathryn Shaw and her husband Nicholas of Gray, ME. She is also survived by her loving parents, John and Geraldine Poillon of Barryville, NY, and her four sisters, Dawn Maher and her husband Larry of Middletown, NY, Barbara Lizzie and her husband Raymond of Barryville, Karen and Sherry Poillon-DeLong of Fairborn, OH and Christine Poillon of Barryville; and one cherished granddaughter Lorelei Amelia.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm on Sunday, April 15, 2018 at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc., 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown, NY 10940. A Celebration of Denise’s life will be held at 7:30 pm on Sunday evening at the funeral home. Cremation will be private.
