Denise Gail Cuccolo, devoted wife , mother and sister, died following a courageous battle with cancer on Tuesday, October 31, 2017 at her home, with her loving family at her side. She was 48.
The daughter of Gary and Julia Stearns Ovitt, Denise was born on April 23, 1969 in Gloversville, NY. She married Christopher M. Cuccolo on June 15, 1996 in Gloversville, NY. They moved to the area 14 years ago from New Jersey.
Denise was a wonderful wife and mother and was a friend to anyone in need. She was family oriented and adored her children. She loved the beach, being on or in the ocean. She liked cruises and spending time playing in the water with the kids. She was also good to her nieces and nephews and took them with her family to Disney. She was a “mama Bear” who always took care of the kids, she organized trips to Disney so her whole extended family could be together for the memories. Denise was independent and strong and fought a hard battle throughout her illness.
In addition her beloved husband Chris at home; she is survived by her three cherished children, Alex of Newport News, VA, Christopher of Queens, NY and Olivia at home; her mother, Julia, father, Gary and his wife Lisa; her brothers David Ovitt of Gloversville, Michael Ovitt and his wife Liz of Wappingers Falls, and Joseph Miranda, Jr. of Greene, NY; sisters, Danielle Ovitt of Lehigh Acres, FL, Jennifer Goodman of Greensboro, NC, Justina of Vandemark, NY; her mother and father-in-law, John T. and Marianne Cuccolo as well as many nieces and nephews.
Visitation is from 2 to 6 pm today, Friday, November 3, 2017 at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc, 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown, NY 10940. A Service to Celebrate Denise’s Life will be held at 5:30 pm on Friday at the funeral home. Cremation will be private at the convenience of the family.
