Obituary for Deborah Salamack
Deborah Salamack
Deborah Salamack passed away peacefully at New York Presbyterian Hospital on June 20, 2023 following a lengthy hospitalization. Her loving family was by her side. She was 72.
She was born in Cobleskill, New York on April 5, 1951 and grew up in Schenectady, New York. She moved to Poughkeepsie in the early 70’s where she graduated from Marist College. While attending college, she worked as a paralegal and later as a social worker.
Deborah met her future husband in 1974 and was married in 1975. They lived in Missouri for four years where she worked as a Child Protective Services Social Worker. In 1979 they moved to Lewisburg, PA. While there, she was active in the Social Professional Women’s Association. She gave birth to their daughter, Hilary, in 1984, and found that being a mother was the best job she’d ever had. The three of them moved to Middletown in 1985.
Deborah returned to school to receive a Masters Degree in Education and worked as a teacher and tutor in the Minisink School District. She was a wonderful wife and a loving mother who was loved by so many family and friends.
She is survived by her loving husband, Martin, daughter, Hilary and her husband John Edwards and her cherished grandchildren; Grace and Charlie as well as many cousins.
Her smiling face and empathetic manner will be deeply missed.
Visitation will take place at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home on Monday, June 26, 2023 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. A Service will be held at St. John’s Lutheran Church on Tuesday, June 27, 2023 at 11:00 AM. Entombment to follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Our Lady Queen of Peace.
