Obituary for Deborah James
DEBORAH B. JAMESMay 21, 1933 - January 28, 2013Middletown, NYDeborah Bankston James, originally of New Orleans, LA, fell asleep in death on January 28, 2013 at the Park Manor Rehabilitation Center in Middletown, NY. She was 79 years old. The first born of Herbert and Thelma Bankston, Deborah was born on May 21, 1933 in New Orleans.
For over 30 years she taught music and special education in various public schools of New Orleans, however the most important teaching that she engaged in was bible education, and she enjoyed this for over 50 years as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses. In fact, from 1999 to 2007, she tirelessly shared her bible based beliefs with others on a full time volunteer basis. She was a member of the Circleville, NY Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses. Deborah loved music, dancing, cooking and teaching. She will be dearly missed.
Deborah is survived by her four children: Benjamin James Jr. and her daughter-in-law, Lisa of New Orleans, LA, Cassandra James Duvernay and her son-in-law, Wayne of Circleville, NY, Deidre Callain James of Plano, TX, Terence James and her daughter-in-law, Yolanda of Buffalo, NY; grandchildren: Jeminah, Tabitha and her husband, Dennis, Jr., Evan and his wife, Leslie, Anthony, Phoebe and Caleb; four great-grandchildren: Dennis III, Dayce, Dylan, and Leilani; six sisters: Joyce Peters, Doris Reynolds, Carol Joseph and her husband, Clifford, Oralee Hawkins and her husband, Peter, Theresa Gainey and her husband, Larry, Cheryl Ann McLaine and her husband, Arthur; one brother, Donald Bankston and his wife, Cynthia. She is also survived by a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and a large spiritual family.
A Memorial Discourse will be given on Saturday, February 9, 2013 at 2 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 511 Mount Hope Rd., Middletown, NY 10940.
