Deborah Groen, a lifetime resident of the area, died on Wednesday, November 27th at Kaplan House, surrounded by her devoted family. She was 54 years old.
Debbie was one of twelve children born to the late Ruth E. Perry and Stanley J. Schultz on November 26, 1959 in Middletown.
A caring and thoughtful woman, she was known for her love of children, animals, the Yankees and her garden. She will be especially missed by the grandchildren that she loved to spoil.
She is survived by her husband , Michael, her three sons, Jesse Weed and his wife Nicole of Middletown, Jason and Justin Groen of Middletown, and a special “adopted” son, Paul “Beef” Dumond of Summerton., S.C., four brothers, Ronald and his wife Bonnie, Joseph and his wife Carmen, William and his wife Emma, Thomas and his wife Marietta Schultz, and four sisters Katherine Balbuena, Bette Anzalone and her husband Louis , Susan Maxwell and her husband William, Diane Anzalone and her husband Martin, sister-in-law, Patricia Schultz, grandchildren, Ethan and Aubrey and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents, her brothers Robert and John, one sister Beverly Rivera and her favorite dog, Copper.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 3, from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. A funeral service will be held Tuesday evening at 7:30 PM, Rev. Debra Benton will officiate. As per her wishes cremation will follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Deborah’s name may be made to the Kaplan Family House, 1 Sunrise Ln. Newburgh, NY 12550.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Dr. Perry and Janet Patruno and her brother-in-law Bill Maxwell for their care during her illness. “It is what it is”.
