Obituary for Dawn I. Schauer
Dawn I. Schauer (Kuhl) entered eternal rest Saturday April 10, 2021 at her home in Middletown, NY.
The daughter of Emil and Theresa Kuhl, born August 29, 1933 in Middletown, New York. She was married for 68 years to Harvey S. Schauer. Dawn was the proprietor of Dawn’s Catering for 35 years. Specializing in pies and baked goods on holiday weekends, and wedding cakes; she often baked specialty cakes for St. John’s Lutheran Church. She also created wreaths and sprays during the holidays.
She survived by her husband Harvey, at home, Daughters, Dawn Forthoffer (Gary), and Cindy Sweeney (Kenneth), grandchildren Emily Forthoffer (Paul), Kenny Sweeney (Alanna), Kevin Sweeney (Catherine), and siblings, Martin Kuhl, Theresa Johnson, and Sandy Decker (Ronald), and many nieces and nephews.
Dawn was predeceased by her parents, her brother Emil, sister-in-law Marlies and brother-in-law Thomas Johnson.
Services for Dawn will take place on Thursday, April 15, 2021 at St. John’s Lutheran Church. A viewing will be held from 1-2 pm, with a church service to follow immediately after.
Burial will take place on Friday, April 16, at 10:30 am in the Wallkill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Dawn’s memory to: Hospice of Orange Co., or St. John’s Lutheran Church.
