Obituary for David Curtis
David Curtis, who met all of the challenges that life presented him with incredible strength, grace, and courage, died at University of Pittsburgh Medical Center in Pittsburgh on April 11, 2006, five days after receiving his long awaited transplant. He was 35.
Throughout his life, David inspired all those fortunate enough to know and love him. Though David’s gift of a new life came too late for him, it was his intention to increase the need for organ donor awareness.
The son of Michael and Cheryl Craft Curtis he was born on November 5, 1970 in Midletown. David graduated from Middletown High School in 1988, and attended Orange County Community College and University of North Texas. He worked both at Circuit City and then as a Substitute Teacher for the Middletown School District in Middletown, NY.
David was an inspiration to everyone he encountered. He was a strong and motivated young man who touched many lives with his wonderful spirit.
He is survived by his dedicated, loving parents, Mike and Cheryl Curtis at home, brother Scott and sister Stacey Fairweather and her husband David, all of Middletown, nephew David and niece Meghan Fairweather, several aunts, uncles, many many cousins and many close friends.
Friends may call on Friday, April 14, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc., 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown. A Funeral Service of Remembrance will be held on Saturday, April 15, 2006 at 11 am at First Congregational Church, East Main Street in Middletown. Burial will follow in the family plot in Pine Hill Cemetery, New Hampton, NY.
