Middletown, NY

David A. Petrozak, a lifetime Middletown resident, died with the comfort of his loving family following a long illness at Orange Regional Medical Center. He was 72.

The son of Adelaide and the the late Charles Petrozak, he was born on September 8, 1940 in Middletown. He graduated from Middletown High School Class of 1958 and stayed an active member of the MHS Class of ’58 throughout his lifetime. David served his country in the U.S. Army during the Occupation of Germany as a helicopter mechanic. He married Beverly Menshen on August 13, 1966 at St. Joseph’s R.C. Church in Middletown. David was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, the American Legion Post 151 and a lifetime member of the Middletown Elks Lodge #1097. He was a gifted carpenter who worked as a general contracter for many years. Before retiring, he also worked as a clerk of the works on large project construction.

David was always very athletically talented in football, basketball and baseball. Even after the army, he played semi-pro football for the Marauders. He was an avid sportsman who loved hunting. He was very proud of his Polish-Ukranian heritage and enjoyed dancing. Above all of his other talents and loves, he was a dedicated and supportive husband, father and grandfather who was always there for his beloved family.

In addtition to his loving wife Beverly at home; he is survived by his mother, Adelaide “Chic” Petrozak, his daughters, Brenda Petrozak-Finklestein and her husband Martin and Andrea Tymczyszyn and her husband Adrian; four grandchildren, Lily, Benjamin, Sophie and Matthew and one sister; Adrienne Hunt, and nephews Gregory, Christopher and Darin Hunt.

Visitation hours will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm on Monday, Dec. 3, 2012 at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc, 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown, NY 10940. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am on Tuesday, December 4, 2012 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 90 Euclid Avenue, Middletown, NY. Burial with Military honors will follow in the family plot in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Middletown.

Memorial contributions in David Petrozak’s name may be made to the Mental Health Association in Orange County, Attn: Autism Spectrum Fund, 73 James P. Kelly Way, Middletown, NY 10940.
