Daria V. Catania, a longtime resident of Scotchtown and retired therapist died after a long illness at Garnet Health Center on September 12, 2021. She was 73 years old.
The only child of Francis and Audrey Gewert Jeziorski, she was born on August 3, 1949, in Rockville Centre, Long Island, NY.
Daria worked as a rehabilitation therapist for Rockland Psychiatric Center advocating for clients with drug and alcohol dependencies. She spent over thirty years with the state and always valued the staff and clients she worked with.
One of her most important roles in her life was that of a wife, mom, and grandmother. She was sweet, smart, funny, and caring. All of the family, enjoyed her sense of humor and her attention to others.
She is survived by her beloved husband Sal at home, her daughter Lisa husband Christopher of Oxford, MA, and her adopted daughter Phyllis Zaffiro of Middletown, NY. Cherished grandchildren, Brandon, Amanda, and Cameron, as well as two step-grandchildren, Jourdan and Krista.
