Daniel B. Boland, a resident of Cornwallville, NY, died on Friday November 15 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was 96 years old.

The son of the late Bernard and Mary Birmingham Boland, he was born on January 3, 1917 in Brooklyn, NY. A proud Veteran, He served proudly in the U.S. Navy during WWII from 1942-44. Mr. Boland married Bridget McHugh on New year’s eve – Dec. 31, 1950 in Brooklyn, NY.

He was a Bus driver employed by the Manhattan and Bronx Surface transportation Operating Authority in NYC.

He will be remembered as a boxer in his younger days, an animal rescuer, a care-taker and a man of great humor who was adored by his Grandchildren. Family was always an integral part of his life.

Dan is survived by his devoted and loving wife Bridget, his 3 sons: Daniel and his wife Diane, Paul and Patrick; His 2 daughters: Loretta Crotty and her husband Kevin, and Bernadette Kennedy and her husband Martin as well as 15 grandchildren: Kevin, Danielle, John, Meghan, Brian, Daniel, Kristen, Brendan, Martin, Michael, Bridget, Paul, Mary, Regina and John.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 to12:45 Am on Tuesday, Nov.19, at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home Inc., 130 Highland Ave. Middletown, NY 10940; followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at1:00 Pm at St. Joseph’s R.C. Church, 149 Cottage St. Middletown, NY 10940. Interment will be at St. Joseph’s Cemetery.

Funeral arrangements under the direction of the Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home Inc.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 to12:45 Am on Tuesday, Nov.19, at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home Inc., 130 Highland Ave. Middletown, NY 10940; followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at1:00 Pm at St. Joseph’s R.C. Church, 149 Cottage St. Middletown, NY 10940. Interment will be at St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
