Cynthia L. Guthrie, a keyboard specialist for City of Middletown Police Dept., died unexpectedly on January 25, 2012 at Orange Regional Medical Center. She was 50. The daughter of the late Robert and Lillian Alonge Guthrie, she was born on May 23, 1961 in Brooklyn.
Cindy was a 24 year resident of the Middletown area. She was a proud mom whose home was always open to all her children’s friends. She adored her family and she loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was always there for anyone in need; she will be missed by many. Her generosity and loving ways will live on in the people she touched forever.
Cindy is survived by her loving family; her companion, Jeff Hogan, at home; her daughter, Shawna Strenfel and her husband, Timothy; her son, Jason Lichtenstein and his wife, Christine; grandchildren, Hailey Lichtenstein and Addison Strenfel; brother, Robert, all of Middletown; two sisters, Lisa Travis of Middletown, NJ and Judith Blainey of Whitestone, Queens, NY; former husband, Bruce Lichtenstein, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by one sister, Kelly Jean.
Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Sunday, January 29 at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc., 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown, NY 10940. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, January 30 at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 90 Euclid Avenue, Middletown, NY, 10940. Cremation will be private at Cedar Hill Crematory, Middle Hope, NY.
Memorial contributions in Cindy’s name may be made to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, 832 South Broadway, Tarrytown, NY 10591-6602.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home.
